Associated Student of the University of Washington (ASUW)
STUDENT SENATE:
Every week the senate gathers to discuss issues important to students ate the University of Washington and establish resolutions of student opinion. These resolutions help guide our elected leaders and dedicated volunteers as they represent us.
SEXUAL ASSAULT AND RELATIONSHIP VIOLENCE AWARENESS (SARVA):
Organizes sexual assault and relationship violence awareness week. Coordinates the take back the night rally, clothesline project and other programs.
CRIME PREVENTION:
Works with administrators, police, and others to improve safety and crime awareness of the UW campus. The committee sponsors such programs as Night Walk and works to increase and install emergency phones on campus.
COMMITTEE ON CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY:
Research the activities of corporations that the University does business with and determine if they are in violation of the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
COMMITTEE ORGANIZING RAPE EDUCATION (CORE):
Organizing peer training on the prevention of sexual assaults.
FINANCE & BUDGET:
Prepare an annual ASUW budget and makes financial recommendations to the Board.
PERSONNEL COMMITTEE:
Recommend salary guidelines, recommends ASUW personnel policies to the ASUW Board of Directors.
SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE:
Review all request by Registered Student Organizations for Special Appropriations of ASUW funds.
